About Me

Hi! I’m Clive, I’m 66, been divorced 12 years, live on my own, and have two beautiful grown up daughters and a lovely granddaughter who are the centre of my world. I retired in September 2013 from working in the NHS, for a large mental health Trust in London. I am a Man of Kent, exiled for many years in Essex, but am content in my adopted county. I love books, both real and electronic, and listening to music – particular favourites are what might be termed folk, rock, Americana and alt-country. I also watch a lot of sport on TV, especially football and cricket, and am a long-time supporter of Dover Athletic, my home town team, and after retirement I became a season-ticket holder at my local team – Leyton Orient. Sadly, I’ve had to give that up, for health reasons, as I also did with live music events: two great disappointments for me!

I have had two periods of depression, and returned to work from the second, longer spell in July 2012. I was encouraged by my counsellor to write about my experiences and to share them in a blog, both as therapy for me but more importantly in the hope that others will find this helpful, especially if they are fellow sufferers. The fuller version of my story is in three parts, which you will find in the archive for November 2012 or by clicking on ‘My story’ in the menu at the top of the screen.

I also share random thoughts on anything else that springs to mind. And music. Lots of music!

I hope you find this interesting, helpful and maybe even amusing in places. Please drop in and say hello!

You’ve made reference to your Facebook page before, and I haven’t been able to find it. Any chance you can send me the link?

FINALLY made time to read your About post – and jumped over to Stevie’s interview & commented there as well. So much to read, so little time in any day. ::sigh::

I did too. Sometimes the WordPress Gremlins “bump” blogs I’m following, so perhaps that’s what happened?

Then again, my computer has the hiccups today so perhaps, in checking, I clicked twice, unfollowing and then refollowing?

Who knows, but all’s well now – at least in that realm.

Hi Clive. Although I’ve seen – and liked – many of your comments on Stevie Turner’s blog, this is the first time I’ve clicked through to find out more about you, encouraged by Stevie’s generous sharing of links this morning. I enjoyed your recent post about Cat Stevens and from the above I see that we share musical taste – although you would have to add jazz to complete the list of mine.
I’m off to check out a few more of your posts now. Merry Christmas

Hi Frank, many thanks for this, and for the Twitter follow. I’ll take a look at your blog too, but I’m afraid we’re going to have to agree to disagree on jazz – it does nothing for me! Merry Christmas to you too 😊

Anyway. I love your blog! Haha. I haven’t browsed around much yet, but I will soon. I love the whole concept behind it, and how genuine you are. Hope to see you around this blogosphere. ❤

Hi Clive, it’s nice to find you. Yes – sometimes friends say the most awful things, that if they heard that said to them they would definitely have a reaction. Well, you are safe here on WordPress, Clive! Many people, including myself, know what you’re talking about regarding depression. I hope you keep writing to us. I also like the references to popular songs on your blog. Blessings to you! Debb

I only write and post when I feel like it – I can be erratic in my appearances! It’s a hobby, not a livelihood, so I have that luxury. Music is very important to me and features a lot in my posts – especially in the run up to Christmas, which has become a kind of theme for me. You have a lovely weekend too. Thank you for following – I’ve returned the compliment. Anyone who loves Joni Mitchell is fine by me 🙂
